Run for the CallApril 3rd, 2012
I’m not a runner. Even when I was in the best shape of my life (on two different swim teams at once), I couldn’t run long distances with ease. But I do enjoy it, and I’m always looking for new ways to connect with people who share my passion for the sport as well as new and great causes for which to run.
I was excited to find a team of men, women, and children who are helping young men in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati fulfill their vocations to the priesthood by running (or walking) in area races in and around the Greater Cincinnati area. This initiative—Run for the Call—is made up of people of all ages who are dedicated to promoting a culture of vocations and raising money to support seminarians of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
Our team is entering the Flying Pig Marathon races for the first time on the weekend of May 5-6, 2012. If you’re in the Northern Kentucky/Indiana/Greater Cincinnati area (or beyond!) and would like to join this cause or learn more, visit this website: http://runforthecall.wordpress.com/.
You do not have to be a seasoned runner, and there are several race options, including a 5K (which I’m doing), a 10K, a half marathon, the full marathon, a relay team and even a kids’ team!
Hopefully, my original end goals of “losing weight and being more healthy” will become mere bonuses as I focus on my new, much more worthy goal of running for the call.
I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.—Philippians 4:13
