Immaculate Conception Church in Botkins, OH is seeking a part time director of Liturgical Music. The Director of Liturgical Music serves the parish as the principal musician, organist, and choir director aiming at praising the Blessed Trinity through the Sacred Liturgy.
 
Skills, Knowledges, and Abilities
• Must have a high degree of proficiency in the use of the organ as attested to by formal credentials and a personal performance audition.
• Should have a working knowledge of other instruments which might be used in liturgical music
• Must have skill as an effective choral conductor as demonstrated by formal credentials and/or a choral audition (rehearsal).
• Must have a knowledge and appreciation of the Church’s liturgical tradition as well as current liturgical practice.
• Must have a desire to promote the Church’s understanding of a sung/chanted liturgy.
• Must have the ability and desire to lead and sustain a program of quality congregational singing.
• Must have a good knowledge of quality repertoire available for liturgical music programs for adult and children’s choirs, organ, and congregation.
 
The applicant should have experience in preparing and accompanying Catholic Liturgical music and at a minimum able to pass The Archdiocesan Organ Proficiency Exam, or the Service Playing Certificate in the American Guild of Organists.

The Social Service Advocate is the primary contact person for those requesting services from the organization. Engagement, assessment, eligibility determination, gathering documentation and service delivery are principle functions. Job Responsibilities:
 
1. Engage neighbors seeking assistance to holistically assess overall situation, eligibility for assistance and provide appropriate SVDP assistance and referrals as necessary. Our current model during COVID-19 includes working in the Call Center and gathering information for applications over the phone.
2. Participate as a member of the SVDP Social Services team and well as positively interact with Council members and staff.
3. Assess and respond, as necessary, to needs of neighbors presenting critical situations at any time during business hours
4. Prepare case notes; develop and maintain files, enter required neighbor related data accurately into our electronic case management system
5. Participate in selection process used to identify requests for rent and utility assistance to receive funding
6. Understand how to access assistance from community resources as appropriate to address needs presented by neighbors
7. Lead/participate in special projects as required
8. Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications: College degree is required. Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related fields preferred. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate well orally and in writing; commitment to detail and documentation; project management skills; ability to work under pressure; and a comfort in engaging with people of different cultural and economic backgrounds in a faith-based setting are necessary.
