Family Advocate Formation
A program/course to orient, educate and empower parish and diocesan staff
and volunteers to be family advocates within their ministries. Designed to
empower participants to work with adults to strengthen and support family
life.
A family advocate looks at ministry through a family lens and is willing to
evaluate and creatively change his/her approach to ministry from a family
perspective.
The program/course offers participants:
- the ability to focus on existing parish programs with a "family lens"
- an understanding of the family perspective and how to connect it to
life and ministry
- the knowledge and skills to be an effective family advocate
- an awareness of the sacredness of ordinary family life
- a systems approach to strengthening the partnership between parish and
families
- the how-to of networking as it pertains to the family perspective
