Pro-Life Fund Process
History:   The Pro-Life Fund was established in 1973 in response to a recommendation by the Pastoral Council of the Archdiocese.

The Archdiocese designates October as Respect Life Month.  Each parish is asked to offer a second collection on the first weekend of October for this fund.

 Objectives

(1)        To offer an opportunity for the Church in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to demonstrate its commitment to the Pro-Life cause by rendering financial assistance to a variety of Pro-Life programs throughout our 19 counties.

(2)        To relieve the parishes of the problem of having to deal with direct requests for financial support from a number of Pro-Life organizations at different times throughout the year.

(3)        To provide funding for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati's Respect Life Ministry. In addition to providing resources to parishes, they coordinate programs such as Project Rachel and the Pregnancy Coalition.

Disbursement   Funds are disbursed through an application process.  The archdiocese encourages all Pro-Life/Respect Life organizations who are not anti-Catholic and within the boundaries of the archdiocese to apply.  Only one (1) application per organization is accepted and organizational salaries and normal operating costs are not funded.

The proceeds of the parish collection are forwarded to the Chancery who informs the Director of the Family Life Office of the total amount collected.  The Director of the Family Life Office submits the total amount and each organization's request to a committee of representatives from across the archdiocese.  The committee makes its recommendations to the Archbishop, who then makes the final decision for the disbursement of funds.

Collection  – 1st weekend of October

Application deadline – 1st Friday of November

            Committee meeting  – early December
