A desire and proven ability to lead a dynamic and cooperative team is necessary.   Experience in service learning, human services, nonprofit leadership, volunteer coordination or related field preferred. Applicants must be VIRTUS certified or achieve VIRTUS certification prior to start date.  A working knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and an openness to fostering the spirituality of St. Vincent de Paul is desired.

Part time position includes:   The primary focus of this job includes direction of an established Contemporary Mass Worship Group (Mass held weekly on Sunday at 4 p.m.).  The job includes planning of repertoire and integration of participatory aids (CCLI, etc.) with existing AV projection equipment. The music minister will serve as the keyboardist and supplemental vocalist in the group. The contemporary group utilizes the services of paid professional side musicians and vocalists, who rehearse prior to the mass on Sunday afternoons.   This job also includes a Saturday 4:30 p.m. mass with a folk ensemble, utilizing paid professionals with a weekly rehearsal prior to mass for this group.  This mass utilizes Gather Comprehensive 2nd edition and also a parish supplement.  This musical group wishes to develop prelude selections from traditional, folk, and American Gospel traditions.

 

This job could move to full time in the future depending on the skills and commitment level of the musician.  Added responsibilities would include assisting the Director of Music by providing music for other parish liturgies, Christmas, Easter, some rehearsals, funerals, etc.

 

The ideal candidate should be a skilled musical leader of the assembly who is accomplished in either piano/organ or guitar, with a degree in music, experience in planning Catholic liturgies, using a variety of liturgical musical styles and must also be an effective and enthusiastic director in settings with volunteer musicians. The candidate should be an organized and collaborative individual who is proficient in technology, including MS Office and Finale notation software.

Catholic Campus Ministry at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, invites applications for a Catholic Campus Minister.  The Campus Minister reports directly to the Director of Campus Ministry, and works with a team of student ministers and a team of FOCUS missionaries.  A part-time music minister and part-time administrative assistant round out the staff.  We are looking for someone who has the desire to share the Catholic faith to the whole Wright State University Community.

 

The campus minister’s main job responsibilities include planning both fall and spring retreats (sites have already been selected for the coming year), working closely with and helping to mentor FOCUS missionaries, and mentoring the student ministry team.  Additionally, the campus minister is the staff member who leads our student mission trip to the Bosco Boys home in Mandeville, Jamaica, each May.  They also coordinate alternative spring break opportunities.

Other opportunities include working on lunches for faculty and staff, and coordinating with other Christian campus ministries at Wright State.

 

The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic holding a Master’s Degree in Theology or Pastoral Ministry, or a similar field with at least 18 graduate credits in theology.  Also beneficial is some experience of supervised ministry training.   The position is available September 1, 2016.
