The Diocese of Portland, Maine is currently seeking the next Superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools to provide Spirit-filled, innovative, and executive leadership for 10 schools serving 2059 students located throughout the State of Maine, and to serve as the Bishop’s representative to three private, Catholic schools.   The Superintendent of Catholic Schools serves as the chief school administrator providing day-to-day advice and consultation to pastors, presidents, principals and local school boards; provides guidance and direction on long and short-term planning, budgeting, financial, instructional standards, contract and staffing issues.  The Superintendent of Catholic Schools reports to the Bishop of the Diocese of Portland, is a member of the Episcopal Council, and collaborates with the Diocesan School Board.


The future Superintendent will take responsibility for carefully monitoring and insuring the faith formation of both students and faculty, the academic performance of students, and the professional excellence of school staffs, while effectively and creatively addressing ongoing challenges in the areas of affordability, accessibility, enrollment and the strategic management of tuition assistance funding, particularly as they apply to a vastly demographically diverse diocese that encompasses the entire State of Maine.
