The VICE PRESIDENT FOR ADVANCEMENT (VPA) is an exempt, full-time (12-month) position that reports directly to the president.

 

Role: The VPA leads St. Xavier High School’s advancement efforts and is ultimately accountable for their success.  The VPA works with the president and advancement team, the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and others to raise annual, capital and endowment gifts for the school. The VPA is a member of the President’s Advisory Team, is the staff liaison to the advancement committee of the board and attends board meetings. The VPA collaborates with and leads the advancement office personnel.  This position requires evening and weekend hours, attendance at some school and alumni events, and travel.

 
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fundraising

  • Cultivate a portfolio of benefactors, personally secure significant support for the school and maintain an ongoing stewardship relationship after donors have contributed.
  • Connect benefactors to the president and others (staff and volunteers) when appropriate.

 
Leadership

  • Build and maintain a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the St Xavier community, engaging administrators, faculty,  staff, trustees and other volunteers in this effort.
  • Supervise the major gift officers and AVP for Development, and lead them to success.
  •  
    Administration

    • Serve as the primary staff liaison to the advancement committee and support its oversight and participation in the school’s advancement efforts.
    • Advise the president in his strategic leadership of the school.
    • Works with CFO in preparation of annual budgets and proper accounting for gifts and pledges.
    • Other duties as assigned by the president.

    • A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
    • A proven record of success in advancement work (10 years fundraising, 5 years leadership).
