St. Charles is a vibrant suburban parish of 2300 families with a K-8 school and an active music ministry program. We are seeking an enthusiastic Director of Music Ministries to encourage and develop a prayerful, singing assembly. Minimum requirements: practicing Catholic in good standing, thorough knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and rites through the lens of Vatican II, BA in Music, with an emphasis in liturgy and piano/organ performance, motivated professional pastoral musician with strong organ, piano, vocal, conducting, and communication skills, and an ability and desire to engage younger as well as older parishioners. Responsibilities include: piano, organ and vocals for holy days, funerals (on regularly scheduled work days), four weekend Masses, weekly school Mass and weddings (with additional recompense). This position directs, trains and provides rehearsals for children and adult choirs, cantors and instrumentalists as well as working in a collaborative manner with the Worship Director, other staff members and lay leaders. Participation in Staff Meetings and Worship Commission is required, along with some regularly scheduled office hours.
