The Diocese of Portland, Maine is currently seeking the next Superintendent of Maine Catholic Schools to provide Spirit-filled, innovative, and executive leadership for 10 schools serving 2059 students located throughout the State of Maine, and to serve as the Bishop’s representative to three private, Catholic schools.   The Superintendent of Catholic Schools serves as the chief school administrator providing day-to-day advice and consultation to pastors, presidents, principals and local school boards; provides guidance and direction on long and short-term planning, budgeting, financial, instructional standards, contract and staffing issues.  The Superintendent of Catholic Schools reports to the Bishop of the Diocese of Portland, is a member of the Episcopal Council, and collaborates with the Diocesan School Board.

St. Clement Church is seeking an active Catholic, preferably a member of the parish, to serve as Director of Faith Formation in this 500 household Franciscan parish in St. Bernard, OH. The DFF provides overall leadership and direction for total parish faith formation and oversees parish sacramental preparation programs. This staff member reports to the Pastor and is an ex officio member of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Worship Commission and the Education Commission, chairing the Faith Formation Task Force. The position is full-time, with the DFF working 40 hours a week including participation in evening meetings and frequent weekend activities. Ideally, the person should have certification as a Catechetical Leader in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati or other educational background appropriate to the position, e.g., theological studies.

–oversees the coordination of sacramental preparation programs, including RCIA, RCIC, infant Baptism, children’s sacraments, adult Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation.

–oversees and insures the catechetical certification of teachers both in the religious education program and in the 250-student elementary school, including classroom observation and reports to the Principal.

–oversees the development and implementation of parish Religious Education/Faith Formation programs, including catechetical or enrichment programs for children, teens and/or adults.

–oversees the Sunday Children’s Liturgy of the Word program, i.e. trains and schedules instructors.

–collaborates with neighboring St. Bernard churches in sponsoring a summer Vacation Bible School.
