Job Information

Gate of Heaven Cemetery is seeking a full-time Field Superintendent responsible for the overall operation of building and grounds at Gate of Heaven Cemetery to assure that it is operated efficiently and effectively in accordance with Church guidelines and applicable standards.
 
Directs, coordinates and delegates activities to ensure efficient operation of activities related to the maintenance and short and long range plans relating to capital improvement, equipment replacement and grounds care.   Assists on the cemetery grounds, works with office administration, and provides customer service.  This work will involve ascertaining service, machine, and workforce requirements concerning all cemetery operations.
 
Duties of this position may include:
 
Creates and follows an annual workplan for maintenance and grounds care; Establishes and enforces operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety; Conducts training for both tasks and safety; Oversees OSHA compliance on the grounds; Maintains adequate records for Cemetery systems; Other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements and Qualifications:
 
Bachelor’s Degree in grounds management or related field and three years related experience or High school graduate with over ten years related experience

Accepts the responsibility of knowing and safeguarding the values and ethics of the mission of the Catholic Cemetery

Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history

Possess the ability to effectively plan, organize, delegate and manage

Possess the ability to effectively communicate with clergy, funeral directors, business community, staff and general public

Is dependable, cooperative, exercises self-control, works with integrity and has great attention to detail

Must be able to operate backhoe and other motorized equipment

Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather
