The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is searching for the qualified candidate for the position of Director of Media Relations in the Department of Communication & Mission Promotion. The Director of Media Relations is responsible for building and enhancing the reputation of the Catholic Church among both Catholics and the general public in southwest Ohio. This includes owning and directing the social media strategy for the Archdiocese; conducting comprehensive digital marketing campaigns in support of Stewardship, Evangelization, Vocations, and Catholic Schools; effectively leveraging the assets created by the Communication Department and other Archdiocesan colleagues; cultivating a positive relationship with members of the print and broadcast media, as well as other key influencers in the community; drafting press releases as needed; and developing and proactively promoting a roster of expert Archdiocesan spokespersons.
The Director of Media Relations reports to the Director of Communication & Mission Promotion and collaborates closely with other Communication Department members, The Catholic Telegraph, colleagues across several Archdiocesan offices, as well as parishes and schools. The Director of Media Relations must be a model of professional conduct and always represent the Archdiocese of Cincinnati with honesty and integrity.
This position requires that you be a practicing Catholic in good standing with comprehensive knowledge of the Catholic Church, including structure and doctrine; a communications, marketing, or related degree and 5+ years of work experience in media or media relations; excellent verbal and written communications skills; comprehensive understanding of digital and social media, with experience utilizing these tools in communications or marketing campaigns.
