The Catholic Communities of Northwest Dayton (St. Rita, Precious Blood and St. Paul (Englewood) is searching for a full time Director of Adult Faith Formation. The selected person will be responsible for driving and implementing the adult faith formation ministry and RCIA program in the pastoral region. The Director of AFF must participate as an active member of the regional catechetical and pastoral staffs and be an active, practicing Catholic.
The major responsibilities of the position are:
o Takes leadership in helping the pastoral region to shape its goals and strategies for adult faith formation.
o Maintains a good relationship with the Archdiocesan Offices of Religious Education and New Evangelization for consultation, support and resourcing.
o Plans and tends to their ongoing formation through participation in opportunities for professional development.
o Recruits and forms an effective AFF Committee to help develop and implement the vision and regional goals for adult formation.
o Works with AFF Committee and regional staff to provide and promote effective, comprehensive adult faith formation programming.
o Manages and conducts program evaluations and region-wide assessments to determine program effectiveness and opportunities to refine efforts.
o Coordinates advertising, registration and collection of program fees.
o Coordinates recruitment and hospitality for out-of-region speakers and presenters.
o Directs the entire regional RCIA and RCIC process—including, but not limited to, Tuesday meeting nights, Sunday Mass dismissals, rites, scrutiny’s and retreats.
o Coordinates the RCIC with the Children’s Faith Formation Director, along with other programs and activities as necessary.
o Manages the individual parish adult libraries and learning centers.
o Member of the Regional Intergenerational Planning Committee for social events to cover all ages.
o Directs Stephen Ministry efforts across the regional parishes.
o Directs and coordinates the monthly Dorothy Day dinners, our regional ministry to provide meals to the needy.
o Directs Social Justice Ministries for the parishes, including homicide prayer vigils, social issues within the community, promotes and aligns the regional parishes with any archdiocesan efforts.
o Performs other duties and activities as assigned by the Pastor.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in Theology or Religious Studies, (or the equivalent), and possess current certification as a Catechetical Leader. The successful candidate will be PC proficient, and possess a willingness to work evenings and weekends. Previous experience with adult faith formation is preferable. This person must also attend and participate in all regional staff meetings and coordinate with other staff members to build up the faith in our parishes.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
