The Collaborative Pastoral Region of Reading, Saints Peter and Paul and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parishes with 785 families are looking for a full/part-time Director of Music beginning as soon as possible. The Director will be responsible for selecting liturgically appropriate music and playing for the regular parish liturgical celebrations including 4 weekend Masses, Holy Days, weddings, funerals, ecumenical services, etc; leading the adult and children’s choir (Christmas); preparing and scheduling cantors and music groups for all liturgical celebrations; assist the pastor in liturgical planning throughout the year and other liturgical duties in the parish. Director must have a degree of proficiency in the use of the organ. Saints Peter and Paul has a 1896 Koehnken & Grimm two manual classic pipe organ. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart has a more modern three manual electronic organ. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Seeking Part Time Music Minister/Director/Musician to oversee the Parish Liturgical Music Program. Applicant should be a practicing Catholic, and have prior liturgical experience. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to: providing music for the 3 weekend Masses, Holy Week Services, Sacramental Masses/Services, Weddings & Funerals when available.
 
St. John Parish is small but mighty and deeply committed to active participation in the Liturgy and its Ministries. The choir is a generous size (16-20) based on the parish number of families. With their numbers and talent the choir easily fills the church with song but the congregation is also a “singing” people and not just quietly so that people in front of you can’t hear you, but joyfully singing out in praise to the Lord. Besides a fantastic volume, the choir enjoys being challenged with proper breathing, vocal technique, diction, phrasing, harmonies and dynamics.
 
St. John parish enjoys a variety of musical styles including chants, standard hymns and contemporary. There is an organ, a Casio digital piano and a Yamaha Clavinova digital ‘baby grand’. The Parish is accustomed to mostly piano accompaniment. We are an OCP Breaking Bread parish. The choir has copies of Choral Praise 3rd edition as well as the Navy Blue Gather Comprehensive First Edition.
