Professional Development Workshops for the 2018-2019 School Year


Elementary Testing Coordinator Workshop – Wednesday, October 10th & Thursday, October 11th

Date: Wednesday, October 10 & Thursday, October 11, 2018

Location: Wednesday, October 10th – St. John Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Rd., West Chester, OH 45069 (this is a change from the originally scheduled location)
Location: Thursday, October 11th – Fenwick High School, 4855 State Route 122,  Middletown, OH 45005
Time: 8:30am-11:30am (both sessions)

Professional Development for Elementary Testing IOWA G (on-line) and State Testing.  This P.D. is designed for any Teacher, Intervention Specialist, Instructional Assistant or Principal who administers the IOWA assessments.  It will focus on how to administer on-line testing, how to order on-line, and data manager.  Also covered will be the administration of all state testing, a review of SSID numbers and entering names in TIDE.
All must register to attend.  CEU’s will be available for $5.00 and must be paid for the day of the workshop.


Mental Health First Aid Training

Dates (3 sessions offered): Wednesday, October 10, 2018, Wednesday, November 14, 2018 and Wednesday, December 11, 2018
Location: Warren County Educational Services Center, 1879 Deerfield Rd., Lebanon, OH 45026
Times for all workshops: 8:00am-2:50pm

Mental Health First Aid Traing – Just as CPR helps those without medical training assist an individual having a heart attack, Youth Mental Health First Aid prepares participants to interact with a young person experiencing a mental health crisis.  Youth Mental Health First Aiders learn a five-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support.  YMHFA training is clergy, school bus drivers, paraprofessionals, juvenile and human services workers, etc.  Offered in 23 countries and all 50 states, as of 2016 more that 1 million people have trained in Mental Health First Aid in the United States.
Participants receive a 200 page reference manual containing extensive information on various mental health disorders and lists of resources.

High School Testing Coordinator & Counselor Professional Development – Thursday, October 25th

Time: 8:30am-11:30am

Professional Development for all High School Testing Coordinators and Counselors.  This P.D. will cover information for IOWA E, EOC, ACT and promotion points.
All must register to attend.  CEU’s will be available for $5.00 and must be paid for the day of the workshop


Elementary Online Testing P.D. – Nov. 27th & Nov. 28th
Mandatory for all schools implementing online testing

Dates: Tuesday, November 27, 2018 and Wednesday, November 28, 2018
Location: Fenwick High School, 4855 State Route 122, Middletown, OH 45005
Times: 2 Sessions each day: 9:00am-11:00am and 1:00pm-3:00pm

Elementary on-line testing  Professional Development for Account Holders and Data Specialists will take place at Fenwick High School on Nov. 27th and Nov. 28th.  This two-hour training will be offered during 4 different sessions.  Each session is limited to 24 people.
The Account Holder is responsible for overseeing all testing.  Typically this can be the Principal or the Principal’s designee.  He/She will have access to administrative rights in Data Manager and reporting.  While he/she can be assisted by support personnel, this is the lead role in implementing a successful online testing plan.
The Data Specialist is responsible for uploading rosters for online testing.  These rosters are pulled from each schools’ SIS or database and uploaded to the HMH SFTP.  Typically, this is the schools’ administrative assistant.
Both the Account Holder and Data Specialist must attend this training together.  Spaces are limited, so please reserve your session early.


Elementary  Testing Coordinator, Principal and Teacher P.D. – Friday, January 11, 2019

Date: Friday, January 11, 2019
Location: Fenwick High School, 4855 State Route 122, Middletown, OH 45005
Time: 8:30am-11:30am

This P.D. is designed for all elementary teachers, testing coordinators and principals to get ready to administer the new IOWA G on-line and the new CogAT 8.  Paper/pencil testing, ordering, and looking at data through DataManager will be discussed.
You must register to attend.  CEU’s will be available for $5.00 and must be paid the day of the workshop.



Online Testing Proctor Training – mandatory for all teachers and support personnel participating in online testing.  This after school webinar-based training will be offered during the months of January and February.  More details to follow .



Resident Educator Orientation Sessions for the 2018-19 School Year

We look forward to seeing our resident educators and mentors at our summer Orientation Sessions and are thrilled to welcome our new teachers to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic Schools.

For your scheduling convenience, multiple sessions are offered on different weeks throughout the summer.  Please register as early as possible to ensure that you are able to attend the session that best matches your scheduling needs.  Resident Educators need to attend the session with their mentor/facilitator.
