Support Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Act Now for Comprehensive Immigration Reform!

JFI logo

To the U.S. Senate:  No changes to the TVPRA; Pass a Clean Supplemental Appropriations Bill

URGENT:  Senate Action Alert
Take Action!

Background:  Central American children are continuing to flee the rampant violence in their countries.  With the fourth quarter just beginning, the number of arriving children has well-exceeded projections for the full fiscal year.  Without critical supplemental funding in FY2014 and continued robust funding in FY2015, vital programs that assist refugees, unaccompanied children and other vulnerable populations and support communities that welcome them will continue facing the loss of significant funding and capacity.

Additionally, changes should not be made to the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.  Any crippling changes to current TVPRA would send these vulnerable children, and others in the future who have fled trauma, exploitation and violence, back into harm’s way, likely resulting in continued degradation, injury, and death for many of them.

We urge you to send the JFI action alert with this message to your U.S. Senators:  Please pass a clean 2014 supplemental appropriations bill that makes NO CHANGES top the TVPRA.

Why are the children coming?
