Breakout Session Choices:

Catholic Social Teaching 101

This will be a quick introduction to the origins of the Catholic understanding of Gospel justice, the vision for social ministry, and the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching. This breakout is great for anyone new to these topics and/or catechists and church volunteers. Presenter: Andrew Musgrave, Director, Catholic Social Action Office

Promoting Global Solidarity in Your Parish, Organization, and Community

This will be an interactive session discussing ways to promote solidarity through relationships abroad and at home. Our presenters will use examples of healthy twinning/mission work abroad and best practices of promoting Catholic Relief Services and general global solidarity in our local communities. This breakout is great for Global Mission Advocates, CRS Promoters, CRS Student Ambassadors, and anyone else interested in learning best practices in promoting global solidarity. Presenters: Katy Ryan, Community Engagement Manager, Catholic Relief Services. Ann Bolheimer, Senior Director, Greater Mission Fund.

Living Mercy at Home

Global Solidarity doesn’t mean ignoring our neighbors at home. This session will focus on working mercifully within our parishes and community to change the root causes of poverty and hunger locally. This breakout is great for anyone involved with St. Vincent de Paul Society or local charity and/or advocacy. Presenter, Alexander Mingus, Manager of Ministry Formation and Voice of the Poor Coordinator, St. Vincent de Paul Society.
