Resources and Programs for Parish Social Ministry
A Witness of Love: 2013 Survey of Parish Social Justice, Respect Life, and Charity Ministries in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic Social Action Office, Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio, and Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley conducted a survey in 2013 to report on the amount of parish-level social action ministry taking place in the Archdiocese. As the U.S. Catholic bishops state, “Parishes are the home of the Christian community; they are the heart of our Church,” and consequently, “the Church’s social mission is an essential measure of every parish community” (Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish, pg. 1,7).
Our survey aims to celebrate the great amount of social justice, respect life, and charitable activity taking place in parishes throughout the 19 counties of the Archdiocese, to appreciate where such ministries promote a more consistent ethic for life by affirming each other, and to identify areas for growth.
