Divorce
Loneliness and other difficulties are often the lot of separated spouses, especially when they are the innocent parties. The ecclesial community must support such people more than ever. It must give them much respect, solidarity, understanding and practical help… -Familiaris Consortio p 83.
If you are a Catholic who is newly divorced, or soon to be divorced, you may be going through a tough time right now. First off, we want you to know that there is no reason you should have to feel isolated or cut off from your Catholic Church. We are right here to offer the support and ministry you need and deserve.
There are a few common misconceptions and questions about divorce as it relates to Catholics. We encourage you to read this Divorce FAQ Sheet which has been made available by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)
BEGINNING EXPERIENCE
A grief recovery weekend serving those who have lost a relationship due to death of a spouse, divorce or separation. It is designed to be a time of closure on the past and renewed hope for the future. Those who come should be beyond the initial feelings of anger and despair which usually follow the loss of a loved one. They should be at the point of wanting a new beginning and ready to work to make that desire a reality.
