Inter-Religious and Secular Dialogue

At first thought, mission and inter-religious and secular dialogue may seem mutually exclusive. However, mission is no longer strictly about conversion. We approach dialogue with the knowledge that God’s grace and love is present in every person. We chose to dialogue with people of different faiths and of no faith in order to more fully understand and appreciate our our spiritual home. We listen to the way God is moving in the hearts and teachings of others. At the same time we proclaim our own truth. Sr. Caroljean will explain her practical mission efforts for dialogue and offer us recommendations.

Sr. Caroljean serves as the non-governmental (NGO) representative for the Sisters of Charity Federation at the United Nations (UN) in New York. She represents 4,000 Sisters of Charity working in more than 30 countries. One of the issues with which she’s involved at the UN is Social Development, which emphasizes that persons participate in their own development and not have ideas and programs forced on them from external sources.
