Respect Life

February 14 – March 25 April 7 Human Life Action Center

“…[L]et the light of that glory shine so brightly that everyone may come to recognize the inestimable value of all human life. Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in his own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.”
Pope Francis

The Office for Respect Life Ministries networks with pregnancy care centers, parish respect life coordinators and other agencies to help promote the dignity of life at every stage through prayer, education, outreach and advocacy.  The Office of Respect Life Ministries strives to focus primarily on the issues mentioned in the 2001 statement of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities.  These would be issues related to abortion and post-abortion healing; assisted suicide; care for the chronically ill, disabled and dying; capital punishment and domestic violence.

May we all strive more fully to live out the call of St. Pope John Paul II when he made “a pressing appeal addressed to each and every person, in the name of God: respect, protect, love and serve life, every human life! Only in this direction will you find justice, development, true freedom, peace and happiness!” (The Gospel of Life, 5)
