We also provide resources for schools and parishes who are Planning Your Own Trip to the MARCH FOR LIFE as a separate group. Finally, this year, we are offering information for an Adult & Family Trip that would provide transportation and lodging. Browse the resources below to decide which best fits your needs.

About the March

The MARCH FOR LIFE is an annual pro-life rally protesting abortion, held in Washington, D.C., on or around the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion in the case Roe v. Wade. The march is organized by the March for Life Education and Defense Fund. It draws hundreds of thousands of attendees each year.

The first MARCH FOR LIFE was held on January 22, 1974, on the West Steps of the Capitol. There were approximately 20,000 supporters in attendance. The march was originally intended to be a one-time event, in hopes that the United States Supreme Court would reverse Roe v. Wade immediately a year after its ruling. Since 1974, the MARCH FOR LIFE has taken place annually to continue to implore our lawmakers to overturn the Roe v. Wade decision, and put an end to abortion. The MARCH FOR LIFE has continually grown throughout the years with attendance being estimated at over 200,000 people in January of 2019.

The March for Life Rally will take place at noon at 12th St. on the National Mall, in between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive. Following the Rally, the March will begin on Constitution Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets at approximately 1:00 pm.

Important Notes

Please be respectful of residents and commuters. Let’s show the nation’s capital how passionate and polite and respectful pro-lifers really are!

Do not leave trash or signs on the grounds of the National Mall, Supreme Court, or Capitol.

This is our nation’s capital and we should treat it with dignity and respect. If trash bins are full, please carry your trash or sign with you until you find an available trash bin.

Do not engage with counter-protesters. If they try to engage you, ignore them as best you can. However if you are comfortable doing, so use your phone to video the situation. This is for your protection.

Once again, please be respectful of all people and stay focused on the cause of promoting and celebrating life, lovingly and graciously.
