Together in Christ: Saying “Yes” to Missionary Discipleship:  Join Archbishop Schnurr and local pro-life and social action leaders on Saturday, Sept. 9,  for a day of encounter with many of the people who are at the heart of life and justice issues for which we all advocate. We will be listening to powerful stories from leaders of Project Rachel, immigrants, former prisoners, and victims of injustice and racism and sharing our own as well.  We will hold up all of our concerns for a better world in a spirit of shared discipleship in Christ.  Make plans now to join us; space is limited!  To register, contact Tammie Mers at 513-421-3131 ext. 2660 or at  Check out the website here.

Archdiocesan Respect Life Award Nominations Due: The deadline for nominations for the Archdiocesan Respect Life Award is September 8, 2017. This award recognizes those who exemplify protecting the dignity of human life in all stages, from issues of abortion to euthanasia and everything in between. The criteria used to determine the recipient will be based on the U.S. Bishops’ 2001 statement: Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities.   The award will be presented on Sunday, January 14, 2018, the Sunday prior to the departure of our pilgrims to Washington, DC for the March for Life. Look for the nomination form on our website at

9 Months in the Womb with Christ: From March 26th to December 25th 2017, we are again encouraging all parishes to join us in participation of this Respect Life Prayer Campaign, first introduced in 2015. This month’s reflection ties the story of Simeon with care for the elderly. Additionally, short weekly reflections are available for parishes to prayerfully chart Christ’s fetal development in their bulletins. We are also asking everyone to pray daily our special prayer to Christ in the womb. Check out our website at and click on the 9 Months with Christ image for more information. ¡También disponible en español!

Stand Firm for Life! 40 Days for Life Fall 2017 Campaign: The 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign takes place September 27 through November 5. The 40 Days for Life campaign draws attention to the evil of abortion through prayer, fasting, constant vigil and community outreach, with the goal of turning hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, and to heal those suffering from past decisions or actions.  If you would like to consider signing up your parish to coordinate a 12 hour shift in your area, contact Mary Clark at (Cincinnati), or Holly Kistler at (Dayton).  For directions and/or other information on a campaign in your area, please go to, then browse on locations to find the site nearest you!

Life’s Fifth Quarter (L5Q): On the fifth Saturday of each month, L5Q holds a service that includes an 8am Mass at Holy Name Church (2422 Auburn Avenue in Cincinnati), followed by Exposition, then a procession to the Auburn Avenue Planned Parenthood Facility while praying the rosary, returning to the Church for Benediction. L5Q is unique! There are NO signs, demonstrations, protesting or inhibiting in any way someone’s desire to enter the facility. It is exclusively about prayer, with the Eucharist and the Rosary as our weapons. Our next mass and prayer will be held on September 30, 2017, with Bishop Roger Foys presiding.  L5Q has the full support of Archbishop Schnurr. For more information, visit

Project Rachel is a Ministry of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati that serves anyone who has experienced a loss of a child due to abortion. There are a variety of ways persons can engage in this ministry for healing from a recent lost or a loss that occurred decades ago: one-one-one conversation with a peer, priest or deacon, consultation with a priest (we can accommodate a need for consulting in Spanish), a day of reflection for anyone who has experienced loss (mother, grandparent, father, sibling, friend, etc.) support groups and retreats for mothers who lost their child due to abortion. For more information, contact Noreen Wendeln at or call the Project Rachel Help Line at 513-784-0531 for information. All conversations and email are confidential.

Autumn Speaks Again:
You may remember Autumn, an amazing young woman who gave an articulate and passionate response to a Teen Vogue article earlier this year on how to respond to a friend who has had an abortion. This time she is commenting on the CBS news story that Iceland has nearly eradicated down syndrome (by offering abortions to mothers whose children are considered highly likely to born with it).  Click on the image to view the video!
