World Day of Peace (January 1)
Each January 1st, the Church observes a World Day of Peace. First called for by Pope Paul VI in 1968, this annual commemoration takes place on the Solemnity of Mary, the holy Mother of God (also New Year’s Day and the Octave of Christmas).
Please use these resources to help observe the World Day of Peace on January 1 in your parish. For more information or with questions, contact the Catholic Social Action Office or the Office for Divine Worship & Sacraments.
