Thirsting for More? Theology on Tap continues! TOT is a lecture and discussion series for people in their 20′s and 30′s, single or married, sponsored by Catholic parishes and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. We meet in a local restaurant for food, drink and lively discussion about things that matter to you and the Catholic faith. TOT Cincinnati and TOT Dayton are finishing their Spring series this month, and TOT West Chester will begin in August. All TOTs are 7-9PM with the speaker beginning at 7:30 PM. World Youth Day 2013: World Youth Day (WYD) is a worldwide celebration of young Catholics with the Holy Father. The next WYD will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 23-28, 2013. The OYYAM is not sponsoring a trip, but the Diocese of Columbus is. WYD is primarily for young adults (18-30s), and you must be 18 years old or older on July 21, 2013 in order to attend with the Columbus group. Cost is estimated at around $4,000, including a two-day tropical island tour post-WYD. For more information, contact Mike Hall at mhall@ceducation.org.


OTHER RELIGIOUS EVENTS
Life Walk: Join thousands on Sun., June 3, 1:30-4 PM for the Cross the Bridge for Life across the Purple People Bridge to raise awareness for the sanctity of human life. Meet at the World Peace Bell (421 Monmouth St., Cincinnati) for a brief program including Brian Patrick, host of the Son Rise Morning Show. The event will end back at the World Peace Bell with a picnic by JTM Food Group, and music. Due to generous sponsors, the event, food and t-shirts are free. Pentecost Vigil Celebration: Hosted by the St. Gertrude 20s Group but open to all, you are invited to the annual Pentecost Vigil Celebration on Sat., May 26. A grill out and yard games begin at 5PM, followed by holy hour at 6:30, vigil Mass at 7:30, and social time to follow. Please invite your friends and other Catholics to this great event. We especially invite other young adult ministries from Cincinnati. This event will be held at St. Gertrude Church (7630 Shawnee Run Rd., Cincinnati, 45243). Greater Cincinnati 40 Days for Life: To continue our public prayer witness between the Spring and Fall campaigns, please join us for an hour of prayer from 7-8 PM on Fridays May 25, June 22, July 27 and Aug. 24, 2012 in front of Planned Parenthood (2314 Mt. Auburn Ave, Cincinnati, 45219). All ages are welcome. If you have never come to pray publicly for an end to abortion, this is a good first step. You will not be alone. Developing Intimacy with God: The Jesuit Spiritual Center is hosting two prayer retreats directed by Dr. Alex Aronis, based on his book, Developing Intimacy with God: An Eight-Week Prayer Guide Based on Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises. Dr. Aronis is pastor emeritus of Union Church of Manila, Phillippines, and of Kenwood Baptist Church. He attended the United States Naval Academy and served as Navy Chaplain. Summer Personally Directed Retreats: Need several days to yourself? The Jesuit Spiritual Center is offering three Personally Directed Retreas, (June 15-22, July 13-20 and Aug. 3-10) to allow you to step away from the demands of everyday life and to concentrate on the things that matter most. Each day includes Mass, a meeting with a spiritual director, and time for contemplative and solitary activities. Although the retreats last seven days, accommodation can be made for shorter stays. Enroll in a Theology of the Body Class:Ruah Woods, Cincinnati’s Theology of the Body education center, is offering summer classes for adults:

  • God’s Plan for a Joy Filled Marriage: A marriage prep class for engaged couples — June 1-2 or Aug. 3-4, Fri. 7-10 PM and Sat. 10 AM-5 PM.
  • Introduction to The Theology of the Body: A class for adults – Every Monday, June 18-Aug. 13, 7-9PM.
  • Theology of the Body for Teachers: a three-day workshop for teachers (1.3 CEUs)– August 8-10, 9 AM-4:o0 PM daily.

New USCCB Document: The New Evangelization provides an opportunity for all Catholics to deepen their relationship with Jesus, according to a new document from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Disciples Called to Witness: The New Evangelization focuses on reaching out to Catholics, practicing or not, who have lost a sense of the faith in an effort to re-energize them. The document examines what the New Evangelization is, its focus, its importance for the church, and how dioceses and parishes can promote it. Download the document here.


Strong Catholic Families: Strong Catholic Youth. This national project and connected presentations are now available in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Built on the foundation of our Will Our Kids Have Faith? presentations, Strong Catholic Families picks up where they leave off and works to equip parishes, pastoral regions, parents and families to build up the domestic church of the home. With how-to videos for sharing Christian faith at home and more than 50 faith forming activities linked to the events of everyday life, check out this new ecumenical resource for yourself and your family.


Pray-as-you-go is a free daily prayer session designed for use on your MP3 player to help you pray while traveling to and from work, study, etc. It is not a ‘Thought for the Day’, but a framework for your own prayer. Lasting from 10-13 minutes, it uses music, scripture and questions for reflection. The aim is to help you to become more aware of God’s presence in your life, listen to and reflect on God’s word, and grow in your relationship with God.
