SMALL CHURCH COMMUNITIES FORMATION DAY

The Small Church Community Formation Team of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati will provide a Small Church Community Formation Day Making a Difference in Parishes.  Fr. Clem Davis, NAPRC Board Member, Pastor of St. Bartholomew Parish in Columbus IN and national speaker will be the Keynote presenter for Saturday, November 15 at Incarnation Parish, 55 Williamsburg Lane, Centerville OH 45459 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Many of our parishes have experienced small faith communities where faith and beliefs are explored and prayer and fellowship is shared such as through Why Catholic and CRHP.  These small communities are more frequently referred to as Small Church Communities (SCC).  Within these groups participants share their faith, connect faith and life experiences, make friends and develop a deeper spiritual life.  In a fast paced world of so much anonymity were going to Church once a week just isn’t enough this is the opportunity to feel and know that you belong to the broader community.  It is through these experience of faith that participants in SCC are ready to respond to the call of God to reach out to others, to take a more active role in parish life, and to be a voice of faith to others.

We want to keep existing small groups alive and vital for the members and help spread the value of small groups to others. The Small Church Formation Day will provide an opportunity for facilitators, members of small groups, core or formation teams and others who are interest in being part of or starting small groups to come together.  Fr. Clem Davis will tell how SCC can make a parish not only different but energetic.  There will be discussion on how to keep SCC connected to the parish by the support and care the parish can provide.   Fr. John Krumm from St. Mary and Holy Family Parishes, Dayton will talk about starting SCC and forming a core team.  Kathy Klick from Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Cincinnati will discuss how a New Life Retreat provides a foundation for the growth of SCC.  Other sessions will talk about ways to understand faith experiences and how SCC can help members grow in faith.

Mark you calendars and gather a group from your parish to attend this day.   For a copy of the brochure click here.
