May 4: Ascension of the Lord, Matthew 28:16-20
This gospel account tells us what we are all about as baptized Christians. We are commissioned by Jesus to “go and make disciples of all people, baptize, and teach.” Jesus also promises that he will always be with us. How have you thought about your life in terms of your baptismal call to carry out the mission of Jesus?

May 11: Pentecost, John 20:19-23
Again we find the disciples of Jesus locked in a room away from the world that they so feared. Again, we find Jesus appearing to them extending his peace. This time he also “breathes” into them the Holy Spirit to give them the strength they need to face what is ahead. The first step is to open the locked door and step out into the world. When in your life have you been challenged to “open the locked door”? Where did your strength come from?

May 18: The Most Holy Trinity, John 3:16-18
“God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone ... might have eternal life.” This is a passage that is held up frequently at sporting events. What is it calling us to?

May 25: The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, John 6:51-58
We live in community, not in isolation from one another. Our nourishment and support come from gathering at the table. When we eat of the body and blood of Christ, we have life in Jesus Christ. We are one with all the joys and sufferings of each other. This week, let us reach out to someone and invite them to the table of the Lord.

June 1: Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time,Matthew 7:21-27
Discipleship involves both hearing and acting on the Word of God. A moral life is one lived in harmony with the will of God. This gospel describes that person as the “wise man who built his house on rock.” Are you like the wise person with a house of rock? When have you failed to live by the will of God? What happened?

June 8: Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Matthew 9:9-13
Our Church is in much need of healing. Jesus, in today’s gospel, spends time with sinners and tax collectors. He makes the point with those who question him that they need his healing touch. He recognizes that they are most in need of conversion. Many of us are struggling to refrain from making judgments. Others are wondering how to show God’s mercy and compassion. How has your life been enriched by God’s mercy and compassion?

June 15: Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time, Matthew 9:36-10:8
Jesus’ heart was moved with concern as he looked at the troubled and abandoned faces of the crowd. They were the sick, the lonely, the lost, the hungry of the world. As a response, he gathered his disciples together and gave them authority to heal. As the body of Christ, we, too, have the authority to heal the wounded, the troubled, and the lonely. How do you do that?

June 22 Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Matthew 10:26-33
Fear not. We are challenged to speak the message of God with courage and confidence. We are challenged to act in such a way that proclaims God’s message of love even though we face ridicule. We are challenged to trust God more deeply. What do you do to meet these challenges?
