DV 0181  Soul Searching: Teenagers and God.  (Revelation Studios, 2007.  Audience: Junior High through Adults.)  This presentation about teenagers and God is based on the findings of the book Soul Searching: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers by Christian Smith and Melinda Denton.  The book reports on research conducted by The National Study of Youth and Religion.  The movie introduces major themes and findings of the study and goes behind the book in depicting the inner lives of a sample of American teenagers.  Find out what these teenagers really think about God and religion, what their hopes and aspirations are and what the research says about the effects of religion in their lives.  Research for the project was conducted over a seven year period.

 

DV 0184.01-.08  Film Clips for Character Education.  (Michael Rhodes, 2007.  Audience:  Junior High through Adults.)  This program uses clips from popular movies to assist people in engaging in reflection and discussion about character and moral action.  Each episode contains three character traits and several film clips.  Among the values included are: Diversity, Equality, Integrity, Freedom, Democracy, Patriotism, Teamwork, Making a Difference, Caring for Others, Honesty, Cooperation, Respect, Kindness, Good Sportsmanship, Self-Control, Courage, Perseverance, Loyalty, Knowing Oneself, Facing Peer Pressure, Understanding Bullies, Pride, Citizenship, Honor, Vision, Forgiveness and Empathy.  A comprehensive guide accompanies each episode.

 

DV 0188  Free Market Jesus.  (Bluefish, 2008.  Audience:  Junior High through Adults.)  In this presentation Donald Miller author and presenter, asks the question, “Has Jesus become a product?”  He claims that the average American encounters more than 3,000 advertisments a day.  The formula for most ads is: 1.) You are not happy.  2.) You will be happy if you purchase this product.  He then asks the question, “ How has this overwhelming commercial message shaped our view of spirituality, the Church and Jesus?”  He also illustrates how culture serves as a lens for our understanding of Christianity.  He then addresses how Scripture defines spirituality and why Scripture is so relevant in our modern culture.

 

DV 0189 - 0207  Nooma Films.  (Nooma, 2007.  Audience:  Junior High through Adults.)  Each DVD, 11-14 minutes in length, touches on issues that speak to our everyday lives.  Themes include:  Trusting God, Love, Creation, Choices, Church Community, Lord’s Day, Prayer, Meditation, Desires, God’s Goodness, Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Hurts, Judging, Disciples, Faith, Beliefs, Christianity, Lying, Images of God, Relationship with God, Death, Grief, Loss, Healing, Stewardship, Charity, Gift, Holy Spirit, Trinity, Resurrection, Self-Control, Consequences, Self-Image, Peer Pressure, Self-Acceptance, Anger, and God’s Love.  A thoroughly developed guide accompanies each DVD.  

 

DV 0210- 0231  The Animated Stories from the Bible: Old and New Testament.  (Nest Family Entertainment, 2005.  Audience: Primary through Adults.)  This treasure of timeless Bible truths will spark discussions and guide a child throughout the early years and into the future.  The Resource and Activity books contain Scripture references for each DVD along with games, activities, and coloring pages that reinforce the values children learn through watching these films.  The pages of the books may be duplicated.  These programs are not just for children.  Their value is found in audiences of all ages and in all situations.
