This two-part presentation will challenge people of all ages to make a difference in the world. It helps them to recognize God's call to do so. Part 1 (9 minutes) presents an overview of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching and a summary of the historical and scriptural context for their development. In Part 2 (12 minutes) each theme is highlighted through living examples of people who share their commitments to promoting peace and justice.
VC 2017 Time to Abolish War SA

This video presentation documents the major campaigns for peace and justice launched at the Hague Appeal for Peace Conference. In May 1999, ten thousand people gathered in the Netherlands to attend their conference. Bishop Desmond Tutu, H.M. Queen Noor of Jordan, and many other notable peacemakers are featured on this video account of that historic occasion.

This video originally aired on ABC - TV stations. It delivers a powerful message of hope as seen through the actions of everyday peacemakers.

Vatican II's effects on peace and justice, the expanded role of the laity, marital relationships, birth control commission, and sexual ethics are explored. Vatican II recognized the Church is commissioned with a task to perform in this world: to be compassionate; work for social justice and peace; to build community; and to reach out to those who are despised by society (ex. the poor; homeless; AIDS victims). Happy are the Peacemakers and those who thirst for justice.

In this presentation professional storytellers breathe life into three folktales of peace from other cultures: West African (strength), Native American (conflict resolution), Appalachian (deep friendship). It is devised to help children discuss, find perspective, and develop mutual concern.

GUATEMALA: JERAMIAS. An Indian teenager is
forced to flee from violence in his village. Now in the city, he is torn by
bitter memories and adapting to new values.
EL SALVADOR: FLOR. When soldiers obliterate her village and kill her father and
brother, Flor and the rest of her family are relocated to temporary shelter in
the city. As part of a youth group she now works for a more peaceful society.

This is the story of the Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland. It consists of 150 men and women, both Catholic and Protestant, who struggle each day to live a commitment to reconciliation, realizing that the road to lasting peace begins with changing hearts. They welcome the bereaved, the living victims of the violence and provide a gathering place for teenagers.

The Peacetalks series was produced in 1997 and each video is approximately 27 minutes in length.
