FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 30, 2006VINCE FRASHER RESIGNS AS PERSONNEL DIRECTOR
Vince Frasher today resigned as director of the Office of Personnel for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
"Recent events have occurred that indicate decisions and judgments I have made over the course of the past several years may have resulted in difficulties for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati," he wrote to Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk.
"I believe it is in the best interest of all concerned that I resign my position immediately, effective today."
Frasher has been on administrative leave since May 18. A private investigator retained by the Archdiocese is investigating allegations of fired employee Alex Henties (broadcast by a Cincinnati TV station) that he and Frasher had a sexual relationship that began when Henties was young. Frasher denies the allegations.
The investigation has not been concluded and has not been discontinued. Archbishop Pilarczyk has pledged complete cooperation with secular authorities in any investigation they may undertake.
Henties had criminal convictions both before and after he was hired by the Archdiocese to train and support parishes in fingerprinting volunteers and employees who work with children. The Archdiocese has identified and soon hopes to hire a consultant to evaluate its background check program. There have been no reports of identity theft related to the program.
