INTERNET 2 -- Information from Catholic Conference of Ohio:
Our schools that use the Ohio Education Computer Network as their primary internet provider will be given unlimited access to the Internet2 Network without charge. The Internet2 Network is a consortium led by more than 200 universities working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies.
ODE partnered with the Management Council of the Ohio Education Computer Network and the Ohio Academic Research Network to provide this service. It is a one-year renewable agreement. Students can participate in cutting-edge teaching and learning opportunities, such as video conferences for live language, cultural and other educational interactions with people from around the world.
Most of Ohio's larger universities and a number of smaller ones are connected to the Internet2 Network. Ohio is 1 of 38 states that have a Sponsored Education Group Participant agreement that allows colleges and universities, as well as the K-12 community, libraries, museums, zoos, science and performing arts centers to connect to Internet2.

INFOhio Update (From INFOhio) INFOhio is pleased to announce three changes to the EBSCOhost in INFOhio’s Core Collection:
- EBSCOhost 2.0 provides a new look and feel with a powerful, clean and intuitive interface. The first redesign of the EBSCOhost interface since 2002, 2.0 uses the latest technology to make searches easier and more effective. EBSCOhost 2.0 is available in INFOhio’s All Database, EBSCO Animals and EBSCO Images searches. The other EBSCOhost interfaces remain the same. Read more about EBSCOhost 2.0 at http://www.infohio.org/ABOUT/Announcements/20080716.html .
- Consumer Health Complete is a now one of the EBSCOhost databases in the Core Collection. CHC delivers full-text articles from more than 560 consumer health related periodicals, as well as more than 200 health reference works in full text, medical images and diagrams, videos and animations. CHC can be searched with the new EBSCOhost 2.0 interface in INFOhio’s All Database Search. In addition, EBSCO provides a special interface designed just for CHS; use the new CHC button on INFOhio’s main EBSCOhost page. Read more about Consumer Health Complete at http://www.infohio.org/ABOUT/Announcements/20080720.html .
- The GreenFILE database was added to EBSCOhost late last school year, but the product is worth another look, if not your first. If you or your patrons are searching for information about environmental topics such as global warming, renewable energy, recycling, pollution or green building, GreenFILE has abstracts for almost 400,000 records. Some are in full text, and the new EBSCOhost 2.0 interface (in our All Database Search) makes it easy to narrow searches to complete articles. Read more about GreenFILE at http://www.infohio.org/ABOUT/Announcements/20080328.html .
