MANDATORY BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR EDUCATORS
 

Effective November 15, 2007, the Ohio Department of Education began implementation of House Bill 190 - Mandatory Background Checks for Educators.  ODE requires applicants for any license or permit it issues to complete an Ohio criminal background check (BCI) as well as a federal criminal background check (FBI).  Results of both state and federal background checks are valid for one year.  The results must be submitted to ODE electronically through WebCheck.  This requirement includes all NEW and RENEWALS on ALL license types.
