Cincinnati Social Justice Collaborative
Cincinnati-area parishes at the 2010 Advocates for Justice Parish Collaborative Congress voted to work collaboratively on the issues of immigration reform, foreclosures, and “parishes for life”.
Two task forces are currently designing materials and opportunities for action to help parishes advance their efforts on these two issues.
- Immigration Task Force: Participants are organizing to keep together a local Ugandan family, whose beloved wife and mother is under threat of deportation. They are also meeting with elected officials regarding comprehensive reform, the DREAM Act, and opposition to expansion of immigration law enforcement to local agencies.
- Foreclosure Task Force: Participants are compiling a resource packet that will be mailed out to every parish in Hamilton, Clermont, Butler and Warren Counties to both offer support to households faced with foreclosure and to educate parishioners about the realities of the foreclosure crisis. Regional forums are also being planned for this summer at St. Ann (Groesbeck), St. Mary (Hyde Park) and Immaculate Heart of Mary (Anderson). Stay tuned for a link to this packet as well as times and dates for these forums! In 2009, the Collaborative, Social Action Office and non-profit agency, Working In Neighborhoods presented 8 foreclosure forums to help individuals on the brink of losing their homes and to educate Catholics about the roots of the foreclosure crisis. Parishes that have hosted so far are: St. Mary, Hyde Park; St. Ann, Groesbeck; Immaculate Heart of Mary; St. Agnes, Bond Hill; St. Martin of Tours, Cheviot; Our Lady of Lourdes; St. Columban, Loveland; and St. Vivian, Finnytown.

- Parishes for Life: This new issue will explore how parishes can support pregnant mothers, help them to choose life, and to provide resources for area crisis pregnancy centers. Stay tuned for more information.
