Resources for Parish Social Ministry

Catholic Social Teaching Toolkit:

A Resource for Parishes of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for Building "Communities of Salt and Light"

About the Toolkit!

The Catholic Church's rich tradition of Social Doctrine is a powerful gift from the Holy Spirit for our world. According to the U.S. Bishops statement, Sharing Catholic Social Teaching: Challenges and Directions, living out the principles of this teaching is a "central and essential element of our faith". Consequently, we are called to integrate it into our personal lives, and every parish community should strive to weave Catholic Social Teaching into every aspect of parish life.

To assist in this effort, the Catholic Social Action Office and Greater Cincinnati Social Action Collaborative have created a "Toolkit" resource to provide parishes with background on Catholic Social Teaching principles, encouragement to integrate it into parish life, and a variety of ideas on how to do so. The Toolkit begins with a "Catholic Social Teaching and the Parish Assessment Tool" to help you assess where your parish currently is with integrating Catholic Social Teaching into parish life. Following the Introduction, the Toolkit is then organized by the same categories as the Assessment Tool:
