Grateful Believers
Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk has begun a new initiative that he hopes will build an archdiocese of "grateful believers." This column, which will appear weekly in The Catholic Telegraph in the coming months, is part of this diocesan-wide endeavor.

Overtures
This is the three-year series by Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E.Pilarczyk that appeared weekly in The Catholic Telegraph. Overtures focused on the first readings of the Sunday liturgy, with questions offered for individual or group discussion. Click here to access all articles in the series.

Gifts of the Magi

This week in The Catholic Telegraph — December 19, 2008

‘O come ye to Bethlehem’

It wouldn’t be the Christmas season without students from our Catholic schools offering us beautiful and poignant visual reminders of the humble scene that took place in a stable so many years ago.

Among the many schools that performed Nativity plays were the newly consolidated Our Lady of Grace in Cincinnati, which created an outdoor "drive-through" Nativity scene at the school Dec. 14.

Third-grader uses his talents wisely

CATHEDRAL DEANERY — When eight-year-old Christian Jones raised his hand at Sunday Mass on Nov. 16, he was eager to volunteer. Little did he know that he would be learning a valuable lesson and helping others as a result.

Holy Redeemer students take community service to Grenada

ST. MARYS DEANERY — Most Girl Scouts working on their Gold Award do community service projects close to home, but a group of girls from Holy Redeemer Parish in New Bremen helped a community 2,300 miles away.

The five girls and five leaders spent nearly a week on the island of Grenada last month, with each girl taking charge of a project to help students and parishioners there.

A step toward ordination

ARCHDIOCESE — Three men were admitted to candidacy for Holy Orders at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary on Dec. 8: James S. Romanello of Holy Trinity Parish in Norwood, Jeremy P. Miller of the Diocese of Toledo, and Nathan F. Bockrath of the Diocese of Toledo.
