Honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus
HAMILTON DEANERY — Georgianna Kiep remembers when the parishioners at the brand-new Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Fairfield celebrated Sunday Mass in the gym at Fairfield Central Elementary School on Ohio Route 4. There was a small alter on the stage and hundreds of chairs covered the gym floor. Weekday Masses were held in the parish rectory’s garage.


Bishop Carl K. Moeddel resigns for health concerns
ARCHDIOCESE — On June 7, Bishop Carl K. Moeddel submitted to Pope Benedict XVI his resignation as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for reasons of ill health.


Knoxville bishop to succeed Archbishop Kelly in Louisville

WASHINGTON — Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Thomas C. Kelly of Louisville, Ky., and named Bishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Knoxville, Tenn., to succeed him.

Parish dedicates new building
SIDNEY DEANERY — More than 700 parishioners at Sacred Heart Church on June 17 welcomed Archbishop of Cincinnati Daniel E. Pilarczyk and nearly two-dozen other priests to dedicate a new Sacred Heart Church.


Celebrating the life of St. Angela Merici
ARCHDIOCESE — On May 24, Ursulines throughout the world, including the Cincinnati and Brown County congregations, celebrated the 200th anniversary of the canonization of St. Angela Merici, their foundress, giving all Sisters, associates, friends, students and anyone who feels a connection to this faith-filled woman, the opportunity to further reflect on the way she continues to touch their lives.
