| Sister Augustine Dreyer
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity Augustine Dreyer, 89, was held Aug. 25 at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Sisters of Charity motherhouse at Mount St. Joseph. She died Aug. 21 in Mother Margaret Hall and was a Sister of Charity for 60 years.
She began her teaching ministry in 1949 at Guardian Angels School in Detroit, Michigan. Sister Augustine ministered at schools in Maryland and Marion, Ohio. She earned a bachelors degree in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1959 and a masters in reading from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.
Her longing to serve in an orphanage was realized when Sister Augustine was missioned to Villa Nazareth, an orphanage for boys in Rome, in 1957. She taught intermediate grades at Villa Nazareth until 1960 when she was appointed principal, serving in that capacity until 1966.
After returning from Rome, Sister Augustine taught intermediate grades in Parma Heights and in Lima. She taught at St. Mary School in Hyde Park for one year and then served as elementary tutor at St. William School in Cincinnati until she retired to the motherhouse in 1992.
She is survived by her brother, Edward Dreyer. Burial was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
Antoinette Lauer
Antoinette Lauer, mother of the late Father Albert Lauer and grandmother of Deacon David Endres, a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, died Aug. 16 at the age of 91.
A native of Hamilton, she graduated from then-Notre Dame Academy in Hamilton and was active in St. Ann Church for more than 50 years as a member of the choir and the Altar Rosary Society, as a religious education teacher, a Eucharistic minister and a Christ Renews His Parish spiritual director. She was also a member of Presentation Ministries.
Her body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. A Memorial Mass was celebrated Aug. 22 at St. Ann Church, Hamilton.
