‘O come ye to Bethlehem’

CT/TONY TRIBBLE
At Our Lady of Grace School in Groesbeck, second grader Lauren Middendorf and first grader Ethan Miller played Mary and Joseph.
It wouldn’t be the Christmas season without students from our Catholic schools offering us beautiful and poignant visual reminders of the humble scene that took place in a stable so many years ago.

Among the many schools that performed Nativity plays were the newly consolidated Our Lady of Grace in Cincinnati, which created an outdoor "drive-through" Nativity scene at the school Dec. 14.

St. Gertrude Parish in Madeira performed "Hark! The Story of Christmas as Told by the Angels" on Dec. 14 following the 9:30 Sunday Mass. The performance will be repeated on Christmas Eve before the parish’s 5:30 p.m. Mass. More than 50 third-grade religious education students took part in the production. The play tells the story of Jesus’ birth, from the Annunciation to the arrival of the kings at the stable, but unique about this play is that the stories are told all from the perspective of "the angels who were actually there."

Summit Montessori kindergarten students shared the story of the Nativity with their classmates on Dec. 11 outside of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel. Teacher Linda Moeggenberg introduced the Holy Family, shepherds and kings as they gathered in the manger, and fourth-grade students took turns telling the story of the Nativity. Father Philip Seher blessed the crèche.
