Deacon Cletus Homan

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 25 for Deacon Cletus Homan at Holy Trinity Church in Coldwater. He died June 21.

Deacon Homan was ordained by Archbishop of Cincinnati Daniel E. Pilarczyk at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in Cincinnati in 1991. He served at St. Anthony Church in Ft. Recovery until 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, five children and eight step-children.

Interment was in St. Mary Cemetery in Philothea.

Sister Mary Jerome Cremering

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 30 for Sister of Charity Mary Jerome Cremering, 86, at the Sisters of Charity motherhouse chapel at Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati. She died June 22 at Mother Margaret Hall.

A native of Cincinnati, she earned a bachelor of science in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph. She served 11 years as an elementary school librarian and most of her 23 years in education as a primary teacher in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. She began teaching in 1943 at Holy Cross School in Mt. Adams. In 1949, she taught at St. Elizabeth in Norwood and at St. Matthew School in Norwood, 1958-61 and St. Albert in Kettering, 1961-64. She served at Holy Angels in Sidney, 1966-68; St. Raphael in Springfield, 1968-69; and St. Lawrence in Price Hill, 1969-70. After teaching one year in Pueblo, Colo., she returned to Cincinnati to Curé of Ars School. In 1972, she began working as a librarian at the School of the Resurrection in Cincinnati. She returned to St. Lawrence School from 1976-84, when she assumed receptionist duties at the motherhouse. In 1986, she ministered with the Spirituality Center at the motherhouse and was in charge of the library there.

She is survived by her sister, Sister of Charity Florence Cremering.

Interment was in the convent cemetery in Cincinnati.

Sister Mary Bernard (Irma) Reichert

A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Mary Bernard Reichert, 85, was held at Salem Heights on July 2. Sister Reichert died June 24 at Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 67 years.

A native of Coldwater, she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1940 and spent 34 years as a science teacher at schools in Arizona and Ohio. Among the schools she served are Immaculate Conception High School in Celina, Carroll High School in Riverside, St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta and Lehman High School in Sidney.

In 1981 she began working in pastoral ministry and served at St. Joseph Church in Wapakoneta and at the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She retired to Twin Towers in Dayton in 1994 and moved to Salem Heights in 2000. Declining health necessitated her taking residency at the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in 2005.

She is survived by two sisters, Marie Thomas and Helen Lokai, both of Dayton and three brothers Paul and Robert also of Dayton and Donald of Rensselaer, Ind. Final interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
