"Al Kenkel will be a great addition to the administration of Badin High School," Margello said. "He brings a wealth of experience and ability to the position. We will greatly miss Brian Pendergest, of course, but Al is going to bring very strong support to Badin."
Kenkel, 59, has 35 years of experience in public education, including 22 years as a guidance counselor at Northwest and Colerain high schools in Cincinnati. He is the former head boys' basketball coach at Northwest and also coached cross country and track during his tenure.
He has his undergraduate and masters degree from the University of Cincinnati, and also took course work at Xavier, Dayton and Wright State universities.
"I'm excited about coming to Badin," Kenkel said. "It's an outstanding school and I really look forward to working with the students and staff.
Kenkel is a high school graduate of the former St. Francis Seminary on Mill Road. He and his wife, Nancy, are the parents of two boys, Joe, 16, and Mark, 13. They reside in Colerain Township.
