ARCHDIOCESE — The Purple People Bridge connecting downtown Cincinnati with Kentucky was filled with walkers of all generations on June 1 as people participated in the annual "Cross the Bridge for Life" to raise awareness for the sanctity of human life.

More than 20 local pro-life organizations, including the Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, assisted in organizing this annual event, which began at the World Peace Bell Center in Newport.

Father Len Wenke, director of pastoral services for the archdiocese, offered the invocation at the start of the event, and walkers were led across the bridge by bagpipers from the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The event’s honorary chairman was Brian Patrick, host of the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio.

Participants returned to the peace bell for food and entertainment at the end of the event.

The walk kicks off in Newport.
