| Sister Mary Andrea Frericks
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 7 for Franciscan Sister of the Poor Mary Andrea Frericks, 90, at the chapel of St. Clare Convent in Cincinnati.
She died June 3 after serving 73 years caring for the sick and poor in food service in several hospitals sponsored by the congregation.
She is survived by her sisters, Franciscan Sister Clarita Frericks of Cincinnati, Virginia Meyer and Dorothy Schutte of Quincy, Ill.; and her brothers, John and Mathias of Quincy.
Interment was in the convent cemetery.
Sister Loretta Dauwe
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Loretta Dauwe, 61, was held at Salem Heights on June 19. Sister Loretta died June 15 in Flint, Mich. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 44 years.
A native of Cincinnati, she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1964 and for brief time was known as Jane Mariel.
Sister began her teaching career at Precious Blood Elementary School in Dayton and then went on to Regina High School in Norwood, where she taught chemistry and physics. In 1975 she began work on a doctorate in physics at Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind. Upon receiving her degree she served as a Notre Dame research assistant at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois. From 1985 until her death, Sister Loretta was an assistant professor of physics at the University of Michigan at Flint.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel of Colorado, and her sister, Joyce Anderson of Strongsville,.
Burial was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
Sister Jean Marie Hilvers
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 17 for Franciscan Sister of the Poor Jean Marie Hilvers, 86, at the chapel of St. Clare Convent in Cincinnati. She died June 13 at Mercy Franciscan Terrace.
She served the congregation for 69 years. Her primary ministry was in social work, where she served the poor through Catholic Social Services in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the dioceses of Steubenville, Columbus and Santa Fe, N.M.
She received her undergraduate degree from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati and her graduate degree in social work from the Catholic University in Washington, D.C.
Interment was in the convent cemetery.
Geza Parmentier
A private Memorial Mass was celebrated for Geza Parmentier, 56. He died June 14 of an apparent heart attack at his Clifton home.
A history teacher at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati for 28 years, he taught world cultures to freshmen and modern world history to juniors and seniors.
He was born in Hungary, but came to the United States at the age of 16 months. He graduated from Roger Bacon High School and received a bachelors and a masters degree from the University of Cincinnati.
He taught at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati before accepting a position at St. Xavier in 1980.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. X High School in August.
He is survived by his brothers, Mick of Fort Thomas, Ky.; Les of Austin, Texas, and Joe of Las Vegas, Nev.
