| Msgr. Lawrence Breslin
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk May 5 for Msgr. Lawrence K. Breslin, 75, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. He died April 29.
A native of Cincinnati, Msgr. Breslin studied at St. Gregorys Seminary and Mount St. Marys Seminary in Cincinnati before enrolling at the North American College in Rome, where he earned a degree in theology. He was ordained in Rome in 1957.

He began his ministry as assistant at St. Agnes Parish in Cincinnati in 1958 while teaching at Purcell High School. He served at St. Lawrence Parish in 1962 and later that year became assistant pastor at Incarnation Parish in Centerville and a teacher at Alter High School.
In 1963, he was appointed assistant pastor at St. Charles Borromeo in Kettering and continued on the faculty at Alter. He moved to Resurrection Parish in Cincinnati in 1968.
That same year he was named assistant to the vice rector of the North American College in Rome, where he became vice-rector in 1970. While serving in Rome, he was honored with the title of monsignor in 1972.
In 1974, he was appointed pastor of St. Bartholomew Parish in Cincinnati. He was appointed Pro-Synodal Judge in 1975.
Msgr. Breslin became rector of Mount St. Marys Seminary in 1978 and was named pastor of St. Vivian Parish in Finneytown in 1984. He was appointed pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Dayton in 1986, where he served until he retired in 2004. He served as dean of the Dayton Deanery from 1991-1998.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
Sister Vera Heile
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Vera Heile, 90, was held at Salem Heights on April 24. Sister Vera died April 20 at Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 61 years.
A native of Cincinnati, she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1947. Sister Vera served for 10 years as teacher and counselor to young women who entered the high school aspirancy, Fatima Hall, of the Sisters of the Precious Blood. She also taught at St. Marys High School and St. Gerard High School in Phoenix. For nearly 20 years, she ministered through teaching and community action organizing with the people of Guadalupe, Ari.
Upon returning to Dayton, Sister Vera volunteered in Hispanic ministry and at the library at Resurrection School.
In 1991, she retired to Salem Heights where she continued her strong interest in and involvement with justice issues in the Dayton area, particularly with "Unity in the Valley." Failing health necessitated her move to the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in 2002.
Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
Sister Mary Eudora Corbin
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 28 for Sister of Charity Mary Eudora Corbin at the convent chapel in Cincinnati. She died April 18 at the age of 99.
She served as a Sister of Charity for 78 years.
After earning bachelors degrees in education from the Athenaeum of Ohio and the College of Mount St. Joseph and a masters from Xavier University in Cincinnati, she ministered in education, teaching at schools in Ohio, Colorado and New Mexico.
In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she taught at St. Matthew School in Norwood (1931-36), Catholic Central High School in Springfield (1941-52), Bishop Fenwick High School in Middletown (1952-53) and Holy Angels School in Sidney (1966-70).
In 1953, she became director of El Pomar Retreat House in Colorado Springs. She also served in the business office of St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe and as director of volunteer services at St. Joseph Hospital in Florence, Colo., before retiring in 1990.
She is survived by her brother, Albert Corbin.
Interment was in the convent cemetery.
Sister Margaret Monroe
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 24 for Maryknoll Sister Margaret Monroe, 78, at the Maryknoll Sisters in Ossining, N.Y. She died April 21 after serving as a Maryknoll Sister for 55 years.
A native of Dayton where she was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, she attended then-Julienne High School for two years. She received a bachelors degree from the University of Dayton.
Sister Margaret entered the Maryknoll order in 1953 and made her final profession in 1961.
She served primarily as a missionary, first in South Carolina. Her first foreign assignment was to Tanzania in 1963, where she learned Swahili. She then taught at a primary school in Musoma. In 1969, she spent two years in pastoral work in a womens development program and another two years as a team member at the Makoko Center for Christian Families, eventually becoming assistant director until 1991.
She also worked in congregational service at Maryknolls headquarters. She was a volunteer in promotion and mission education for the Maryknoll Sisters, going to high schools to promote mission awareness. She retired in 2006.
Interment was in the Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery in Ossining.
Sister Rita A. Schoenherr
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 24 for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Rita Agnese Schoenherr, 85, at the motherhouse chapel in Cincinnati. She died April 17 at Mother Margaret Hall at Mount St. Joseph.
A native of Minster, she entered the Sisters of Charity in 1947. She earned a registered nursing certificate from Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton and a bachelor of science degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati.
Her first ministry was as nursing supervisor for five years in Colorado Springs, Colo. She spent the next 16 years in the same position at hospitals in New Mexico, Michigan and Good Samaritan Hospitals in both Dayton and Cincinnati.
She ministered from 1973-78 as director of nursing services at Cincinnatis Center for Comprehensive Alcoholism Treatment. From 1978-83, Sister Rita was head nurse at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati before taking a position as school nurse at Seton High School in Cincinnati for 16 years.
In 2002, she moved to the motherhouse at Mount St. Joseph and worked in pastoral care and as a sacristan in Mother Margaret Hall and in the convents business office. She recently retired.
She is survived by her sister, Agnes Random.
Interment was in the convent cemetery.
Sister Catherine Riegel
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 2 for Adrian Dominican Sister Catherine Leo Riegel (Bernice) at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She died in the 63rd year of her religious profession at the age of 81.
A native of Detroit, she received a bachelors degree in English, a master of education degree from Siena Heights College in Adrian and a master of religious education from Seattle University in Washington. She spent 51 years ministering in education in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and California.
In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she was a teacher at St. Vincent Ferrer School from 1970-71.
She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Diehl of Apache Junction, Ariz.
Interment was in the congregation cemetery in Adrian.
