Sister Margaret Mary Flinn
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Margaret Mary Flinn, 74, was held at Salem Heights on Oct.23. Sister Flinn died Oct. 17 at the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 55 years.
A native of Cincinnati, she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1952 and received the name Mary Helen Augusta. She spent the first 10 years of religious life in domestic arts after which she ministered for more than 30 years as an LPN and RN. She served at facilities in Flint, Mich., Rome City and Richmond in Ind. and in Milwaukee, Wis. Sister Margaret Mary also ministered at Grandview Hospital, Jewish Covenant House and Salem Heights all in Dayton.
She retired to Salem Heights in 2007 but due to deteriorating health, moved shortly thereafter to the Maria Joseph Living Care Center. She is survived by two brothers, James of Naperville, Ill., and Jerold of Knoxville, Tenn., and a sister, Shirley Meineke, of Milford. Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
Sister Ramona Lunsford
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 17 for Franciscan Sister Ramona Lunsford at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Ind. She died Oct. 15 at St. Clare Hall health-care facility at the age of 71.
Sister Ramona, a native of Oak Forest, Ind., entered the Franciscan community in 1954 and professed her final vows in 1960. She served as a teacher/principal at St. Bonaventure in Cincinnati, Sacred Heart in Fairfield and several schools in Indiana. She ministered as director of public relations in the Cincinnati archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office and as school supervisor in the Office of Catholic Education in Indianapolis. From 1982-86, she served as a member of the General Council for the Franciscan Congregation and from 1988-2000 was the first director of development for the Sisters of St. Francis. From 2001, she was clerical assistant and driver for St. Clare Hall.
She is survived by five sisters, Rita Gramman and Emilie Market of Brookville, Ind.; Alice Springman of Beech Grove, Ind.; and Charlene Bravard and Elaine Amberger of Batesville, Ind.; and five brothers, Richard of Guilford, Ind.; Arnold of Greencastle, Ind.; Ralph of Brookville, Ind.; Steve of Batesville, Ind.; and Willie of Napoleon, Ind.
Interment was in the convent cemetery.
