| Sister Beulah Mae Hayden
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 2 for Precious Blood Sister Beulah Mae Hayden, 86, at the Salem Heights motherhouse in Dayton. She died Oct. 28 at the adjacent Maria Joseph Living Care Center.
Originally from Rhodelia, Ky., she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1935 and was known as Sister Mary Lawrence. She was a member of the congregation for 71 years.
She spent nearly 25 years teaching elementary students in Ohio schools. She taught in the public schools of Maria Stein and Botkins for 10 years, as well as at parochial schools in Celina, North College Hill, Norwood, Troy, Versailles and Vandalia. She also taught at St. Mary's School in Phoenix, Ariz. In 1962, poor health caused her to make the transition from teaching to supportive services where she served at the central house for the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton, at St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, Colo., as well as at convents in Lafayette, Ind., and Ottoville, Ohio.
She retired formally to Salem Heights in 1982 and entered the Maria Joseph Center in 1990. She was one of nine children. Five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
Sister Rita Patrick
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 6 for Sister of Charity Rita Patrick, 91, at the Sisters of Charity motherhouse chapel in Cincinnati. She died Nov. 2 at Mother Margaret Hall nursing home.
A native of Trinidad, Colo., she entered the order in 1937. She earned a degree in English from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1952. Most of her career was in teaching for 16 years in Ohio, Michigan and New Mexico. She then returned to Colorado and served another 17 years at schools in the Archdiocese of Denver and the Diocese of Pueblo. Then the focus of her work changed to parish religious education. From 1983 until 1985, she was a receptionist at El Pomar, now Julie Penrose Center, in Colorado Springs. She moved to the motherhouse in Cincinnati in 1995.
Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
Bernard Mick
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 7 for Bernard J. Mick, 87, at St. Ann Church in Hamilton. He died Nov. 1 at his home.
A native of Hamilton, he was a graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He worked as a tool and die maker for Fisher Body for 30 years.
Survivors include James M. of Prescott, Ariz.; author and writer Father Lawrence E. Mick of Dayton; Douglas R. of Coolidge, Ariz.; Rosemary Brant of Benton, La.; Teresa Smith of Hamilton and Daniel J. of Los Angeles, Calif.
Interment was in St. Mary Cemetery.
