Father James Ulrich

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 3 for Father James Ulrich, 75, at St. James of the Valley Church in Cincinnati. He died Sept. 29 after an extensive illness.

A native of Cincinnati, he was ordained in 1960 and served the Archdiocese of Cincinnati at several parishes, concluding as associate pastor at St. James of the Valley, while also teaching at Elder High School and Newport Public High School. His first appointed was in 1960 as assistant at St. Elizabeth in Norwood, followed by St. Dominic Parish in Cincinnati. In 1963, he served at St. William Parish while continuing to teach, followed by an assignment as assistant at St. Vivian in Finneytown. He also served for a time at St. Clare Retirement Center. In 1995, he was appointed associate of St. Therese, the Little Flower in Cincinnati before his final assignment at St. James of the Valley. He retired in 2002 and lived at St. Margaret Hall for the last three years of his life.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
