| Father Paul Longo
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 12 for Comboni Missionary Father Paul Longo at the Comboni Motherhouse in Verona, Italy. He died Sept. 10 following a long battle with cancer. He was 78.
A native of Piove de Saco, Padova, Italy, he was ordained in 1952. He served in mission ministries in Italy, Africa and in Cincinnati and Chicago in the United States. He taught dogmatic theology, worked in Rome for the Propagation of the Faith, tended to spiritual needs in a parish setting, worked among seminarians and served as chancellor of the Diocese of Arua in Uganda.
Interment was Italy.
Sister Mary Louise
(Benildes) Ante
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Mary Louise Ante, 86, was held at Salem Heights on Oct.1. Sister Ante died Sept. 27 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 64 years.
A native of Covington, Ky., she entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1943 and received the name Mary Benildes. She taught or served as principal for nearly 37 years in elementary and secondary schools in Ohio, Indiana, North Dakota, Missouri, Colorado and Arizona. She also ministered in the Phoenix Diocesan Education Office and served as facility administrator at Mission San Luis Rey Parish in San Luis Rey, California.
She retired to Salem Heights in 2001 and remained an active volunteer there and at Hoover Place senior housing in Dayton. Final interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
