| Ladies of Charity event to benefit poor
ST. ANDREW DEANERY - The Ladies of Charity of St. Gertrude Church in Madeira have announced that they are holding their first annual card party to benefit the poor. The card party will be held on Sept. 23 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the St. Gertrude School Cafeteria.
"This will be a traditional card party format with 50 tables of four people each. Men, women and families are invited to reserve a table to play cards but are also welcome to play board games or even build puzzles. Its a very family-friendly event," said Nancy Hasselbeck, the chairwoman for the event.
The card party will also feature a combination raffle, with raffle items donated by local businesses and individuals. A very special raffle will be held for a sterling silver charm bracelet donated by Nippert Jewelers in Mariemont, valued at $225. There will also be door prizes, refreshments and homemade desserts.
Admission is $5 per person. Reservations are strongly encouraged; however, tickets may be purchased at the door if space is available. Raffle tickets are $5 for 6 chances.
All proceeds go directly to outreach programs that help the poor in the Cincinnati area and surrounding counties.
