A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 27 for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Carolyn Makley (Rose Alban), 75, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Lima. She died Aug. 24 at the age of 75.
A native of Lima, she received bachelors degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1967. She began ministering at St. Joseph Infant Home and Orphanage in Sharonville in 1954. In 1956, she entered the field of education and taught at St. Boniface in Cincinnati, 1960-61; St. Albert in Kettering, 1961-63; Corpus Christi in Dayton, 1968-69; St. Charles in Lima, 19696-70; St. Rose in Lima, 1979-88. She also taught in several public schools in Ohio and in the Diocese of Santa Fe, N.M.
She is survived by a sister, Jean Winter of Lima; and two brothers, Robert and David of Lima.
Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery.
Sister Cecilia Schroeder
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 28 for Franciscan Sister Cecilia (Justine) Schroeder, 68, at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Ind. She died Aug. 25 at the motherhouse.
A native of Greensburg, Ind., she entered the Franciscan community in 1958 and professed her final vows in 1964. She was an elementary and secondary teacher at St. Mary School and Fenwick High School in Middletown and Badin High School in Cincinnati. She also taught in Indiana and was a core member of House of Resurrection in Norwood. Recently, she she was secretary for Office of Personnel Services/Life Development at the motherhouse.
She is survived by three sisters, Margaret Mauer, Catherine Mauer and Teresa Horan, all of Greensburg; and two brothers, David Schroeder of Indianapolis, Ind., and Justin Schroeder of Rushville, Ind.
Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery.
