CATHEDRAL DEANERY — Standing before friends, fellow friars and two dozen relatives looking on with pride, Brother Andrew Stettler made his solemn profession as a Franciscan of St. John the Baptist Province on Aug. 30 at St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine.

A native of Rolla, Mo., Brother Andrew, 45, earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and mathematics and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy before entering the Franciscan Order in 2004. He made his first profession as a friar the following year.

Brother Andrew lives at a friary in Chicago and is pursuing a degree at Catholic Theological Union.
