Johnsons scores net cash for inner city schools
CATHEDRAL DEANERY One of the Cincinnati Bengals premier players made a big hit at the Cincinnati Reds Great American Ballpark Sept. 17 as Touchdowns for CISE was inaugurated for the coming football season. For every touchdown Bengals receiver Chad Johnson scores during the 2007 season, National City Bank will donate $4,000 to the Catholic Inner City Schools fund, up to a cap of $32,000.
The event was the kickoff for the annual CISE campaign that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for the operation of inner city Catholic schools in Cincinnati that include St. Francis Seraph, St. Francis de Sales, St. Boniface, St. Joseph in the West End, Corryville Catholic, Resurrection, Holy Family and Prince of Peace in Madisonville.
Also part of the CISE campaign kickoff, held this year at Club 4192 in Great American Ballpark, Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk presented Faith in Education awards, given to those who have contributed significantly to the CISE schools. Recipients included former CISE director Marty MacVeigh (awarded posthumously), George and Betty Ann Schaefer, and Michael Schuster Associates.
