Nineteen young adults met Archbishop Pilarczyk for dinner on October 21
at Brazenhead Irish Pub in Mason. The young adults are leaders in a variety of young adult ministries — in their parishes
or in gatherings like Theology on Tap. Archbishop Pilarczyk heard from each group about what they are doing to support the Catholic faith of young adults and also what their challenges may be. Among other things discussed that night, participants were eager to hear about our new Coadjutor Archbishop Dennis Schnurr, who will become Archbishop of Cincinnati upon Archbishop Pilarczyk’s retirement.
The Archbishop began his comments by saying how edified and encouraged he was to hear how strong their faith is and was pleased to hear the many positive events that they are providing. He acknowledged that pastors are pulled in so many directions and that, sadly, young adult ministry is often not addressed. But he congratulated those present for stepping up and encouraged them to continue to use their considerable talents to grow their ministries.
The meeting was organized by the Archdiocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.

Emerging Adulthood as a New Frontier in Youth Ministry:
As adolescence extends well into the twenties, research has noted the overwhelming absence of institutions from the lives of American young adults--leaving them to make monumental decisions of love, work, and ideology largely on their own. With presenter Kenda Creasy Dean, this workshop will explore the spirituality of young adults, the relationship between emerging adulthood, adolescence, and youth ministry, and the particular challenges facing churches.  Join us on Thurs., December 4, 2008 from 1-3:00 p.m. for this FREE workshop. This pre-conference is part of the National Catholic Youth Conference in Cleveland, but is free and open to all. For more info on the conference, go to www.nfcym.org/nccym/

Come to the next Festival of Praise!
The next Cincinnati area Festival of Praise will occur on Feb. 13, 2009, 7:30-9:30pm, at St. Susanna Parish (616 Reading Rd., Mason 45040). The Tri-State Eucharistic Festivals of Praise are for people of ALL ages with the purpose of drawing Catholics into a deeper personal relationship with our Eucharistic Lord, deepening their desire to receive Him frequently in Holy Communion at Mass, and setting people's hearts on fire for God and His Church so as to better be His hands and feet in this world. There will be opportunities for confession, and fellowship will follow. Our Lord is not far away, but among us truly present in the Eucharist and wants to spend time with us and wants us to know His love. Let us rejoice! No registration! No cost! Please visit www.EucharisticFOP.org for more information!
