the 2nd Annual Pentecost Celebration. The day's activities will take place
at McDonald Commons Park & St. Gertrude's in Madeira, OH on Saturday, May 10,
2008. The day will be full of activities including games, a grill out,
picnic, and small groups in celebration of the Pentecost! The Church remembers
Pentecost as the occasion when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles,
inspiring them to emerge from the upper room and go out to the world with
Christ’s message of hope and good news. This year young adults will be gathering
on Pentecost to catch the fire with faith discussion, fellowship, community, and
more. Please checkout

Expanding Universe, Expanding
God: Dr. John Haught presents
the fifth and final part of his series on reconciling science and religion on
Wed.,
June 11 at 7pm: Science, Death and Resurrection. If the news of Jesus'
death and resurrection was hard for his disciples and the first Christians to
believe, it seems all the more so for those of us who live in the age of science.
Dr. Haught will look at a theological understanding of resurrection that is
compatible with natural science while still conntecting with the hope that persists
in human hearts. The lecture is free of charge and sponsored
by the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. The presentations will
take place at Christ Church Cathedral, 318 East 4th St. in Downtown
Cincinnati.

Please consider helping out Big Brothers and Big Sisters
of Cincinnati.
There is a huge need for mentors in our area. If you have some free time
during the weekday you can mentor a child at school. If you
have free time on evenings or weekends you could mentor a child in the
community (regular Big Brother Big Sister role). The commitment is generally
1-2 hours a week most weeks (most meet their Little Brothers/ Sisters 2-4 times a month).
You pick them up and take them to a game, the park, the mall, fishing, build a snow man, etc. It is a lot of fun. You don't
need to be a social worker or teacher or have any experience with kids.
You only need the
ability to listen, encourage and have fun. For more information, contact
Lynn Cameron at (513) 421-4120 or cameron@bigsforkids.orgYou don't have to change your life to change theirs.....mentor someone today.

the spiraling indebtedness caused by payday lending. Now there are several bills

unjust practices. Please contact your elected state officials and request
meaningful reform of payday lending practices. Such reform should include a
reasonable rate cap (current Annual Percentage Rates for payday loans can amount
to 391%), installment payments, consumer protections, support for alternative
lending programs, and financial awareness education programs. Please see the
attached statement from the Catholic Conference of Ohio for more information. To
find out how to contact your elected state officials, simply enter your
legislators’ names or your zip code at:
