"Vocation is where your deep gladness meets the world's deep need."

Vocation discernment is about finding our place in life, where God is calling us to be. It is about discovering who we are as children of God, and living out our lives in a way which fulfills and sustains us. It may involve priesthood, religious life, being married or single, but it goes beyond that. It leads us to the place in this world where God can make the most of the unique combination of gifts we have been given. It also leads us to the place of most fulfillment and peace.

Below are just a few links that may help you in your discernment process.

For assistance with discernment in general, including links to helpful articles, FAQ's, religious as well as lay ministries and even Catholic secular institutes, check out   www.vocations.com/discern/index.html

The Archdiocesan Vocations Office is here to help you learn more about the different ways of living out a religious vocation within the Church--through the diocesan priesthood or in different religious orders for men and women. If you believe you may be interested in exploring life as a priest, religious sister or brother, get more information from our Archdiocesan Vocation Office.

To do your own investigating about hundreds of religious communities, as well as their many retreat, discernment, service and educations opportunities throughout the U.S., check out www.visionguide.org.

Another a good online resource to both religious and lay ministries is www.religiousministries.com

Finally, don't forget our volunteer opportunities page. Often getting involved in service as a volunteer leads to the discovery of a full time vocation.
