Some Guidelines For Completing The Applications

 

Following are some guidelines for nominating candidates for Catholic Scouting Religious Awards. As you complete the following section, please keep these guidelines in mind. They are indicative of the things that the selection committee will be looking for. This list is not, inclusive; please feel free to add any other information if it is pertinent to the Scouter's suitability for the award:,

 

1. Religious Emblems: Promotion of religious emblems program for Catholic boys. Service as a counselor. Promotion of the religious, emblems programs of other faiths to boys of those faiths.,

 

2. Scouting as a Youth Ministry: Notable service in promotion of scouting as a youth ministry, including participation in parish programs of youth ministry, collaborating with parish youth ministers or other parish staff to provide spiritual programming for youth.,

 

3. Training & Personal Development: Active participation in the Scouter Development Program. Received specific training in youth, ministry or other programs related to the spiritual/faith development of youth. Fully trained in the skills of Scouting.,

 

4. Spiritual & Faith-Building Activities: Instrumental in supporting and promoting Scout retreats, days of recollection, prayer services and in general Integrating faith, prayer and spirituality into Scouting activities.,

 

5. Scout Sunday: Outstanding service in promoting and participating in Scout Sunday observance.

 

6. Catholic Relations & Parish Collaboration: Instrumental in building bridges of collaboration and cooperation between the Scouting Unit, and its parish sponsor. Through the Catholic press and other communication media, created a better understanding of the aims and ideals of Scouting by clergy and laity.,

 

7. Evangelization &: Ecumenical Spirit: Encouragement of the true spirit of evangelization and ecumenism by responding to the spiritual needs of non-Catholic youth and by promoting Scouting for all boys regardless of race, creed or socio-economic status.,

 

8. Support of Scouting. Including assisting parishes and Catholic organizations in recruiting scoutmasters and other leaders; instrumental in, bringing Scouting to more boys under Catholic auspices.,

 

9. Sharing of Faith: The candidate uses every opportunity to share faith and in so doing encourages and builds up the faith of Scouts.,

 

And Most Importantly: That the candidate reflect in word and deed the SPIRIT OF CHRIST; that the candidate model REVERENCE with integrity; and that the candidate be a person of LIVED CATHOLIC FAITH.
